The Season of the Son: It’s Your Time! (Part 4)
15 And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony: and at even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning. 16 So it was alway: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night. 17 And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents.– Numbers 9: 15-17
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. – Romans 8:14
It is written in First Corinthians chapter 13, verse 11, “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” Sons of God put away childish things. A Son puts away the characteristics of a child which are these:
Get feelings hurt easily
Get offended easily
Prefer recess over classroom
Involved in non-prescribed activities while parents are gone
Get bored easily
Look for emotionalism and entertainment
Prefer junk food over health food
Can’t be trusted with power
Can’t be given messages otherwise they forget to pass it on
Throwing temper tantrums and pout
Don’t know how to handle money
Love to look and listen to things they are not supposed to
Have short attention spans
Hard time making up their minds
Cruel by making fun of others
Like lots of attention from the pastor
Need constant assurance to overcome insecurities and inadequacies
Don’t like hard work and chores
Don’t enjoy responsibilities for self-preservation
Don’t understand need, importance for proper rest
Don’t like change
Always want something new instead of appreciating what they have
Lack focus
Think they are right and everyone else is wrong
Will lie if they think they can get away with it
Need to be cleaned up after their messes
My friend, this is your time, this is your season to walk as a son. Now is the time to “…put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:” (Colossians 3:10). (To be continued)
