Influential Men & Women of the Bible
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27 NIV). This scripture underscores God’s plan to make both men and women in His image. Both genders reflect His divine glory and enjoy a unique relationship with God different from all the rest of creation.
Both man and woman jointly have the God-ordained purpose to “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air, for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth” (Genesis 1:28 The Message).
When God said it was not good that the man should be alone, he also said, “I will make him a helper fit for him” (Genesis 2:18). God brings all the livestock, birds, and beasts of the field to Adam, yet none of these prove “fit for” the man. A “helper” is one who supplies strength in the area that is lacking in “the helped.” The helper is not necessarily any stronger or weaker than the one helped, but their individual strength complements the other’s weakness.
Our differences aren’t meant to be contradictory, rather when used according to God’s purpose, our differences can be complementary. We are not meant to compete against one other, rather complete one another. The Bible reveals that both genders have a part to play in salvation history.
A study of men and women in the Bible displays the contributions of vessels, which despite injustices and inequalities, weaknesses and shortcomings, prove that we can overcome enormous obstacles when endowed by the grace of God. Their stories demonstrate resilience, reliability, courage, commitment, sacrifice, wisdom, trust, and faith which are characteristics to which everyone can truly aspire.
A person of influence has the ability and/or power to produce results in the lives of others. We can only produce positive eternal results in someone’s life with the help of God. So by the power of His command, He told YOU to prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! Be responsible! Like so many of the persons in the Bible you may not be perfect, but by His grace and blessing may you be enabled to fulfill your God-ordained purpose and make a lasting impact on someone’s life!
