Remember Lot's Wife

Remember Lot's Wife

"Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed. 'In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. Remember Lot's wife. Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.'" Luke 17:30-33 (New King James Version)
There are few warnings in Scripture more solemn than this. The Lord Jesus Christ says to us, "Remember Lot's wife."
Lot's wife was a professor of religion: her husband was a "righteous man" (2 Peter 2:8). She left Sodom with him on the day when Sodom was destroyed; she looked back towards the city from behind her husband, against God's express command; she was struck dead at once, and turned into a pillar of salt. And the Lord Jesus Christ holds her up as a beacon to His church: He says, "Remember Lot's wife." (J.C. Ryle)
When you consider God's loving and merciful nature, you realize that the aim of testing is not to destroy us, but to purge and refine us. The refining process reducing things down to their genuine value. It removes the contaminants that reduce not only in value, but also in potency, so as to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
What comes of a person who refuses to yield to the refining process? "Remember Lot's wife." She was more connected to the city, than to God. She was devotedly attached to earthly things. Her heart and affection was still in the world. She perished with the city.
God's word of encouragement to you today is, "Don't turn back!" God has setbefore you an open door... (Revelation 3:8). Forget what's behind you (Philippians 3:13), set your affections on what's above (Colossians 3:2). Tomorrow is gone, exterminated, finished! Don't perish with your past. God is doing a new thing. Surrender to His will as He leads you to a prosperous, full, and satisfying future!

Send this message to a Friend, and go take charge of the day!Be Blessed,
