The Season of the Son: It’s Your Time! (Part 3)

The Season of the Son: It’s Your Time! (Part 3)

15 And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony: and at even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning. 16 So it was alway: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night. 17 And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents.– Numbers 9: 15-17

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. – Romans 8:14

The tabernacle is complete. The presence of God in the form of a cloud descends and takes up residence among the people of God. Now comes the most important instructions from God the people of God could ever receive. They receive this command - “At the commandment of the LORD the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the LORD they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents.” (Numbers 9:18). The word commandment in this verse means “God’s mouth.” It was directly from God’s mouth that these words came.

The cloud and the fire represent the Spirit of God and when the Spirit moves God’s people are required to move. When the Spirit stops God’s people are required to stop. Obedience to God’s commandments is the mark of a “son of God.” Sons of God are obedient to these three things – the Word of God, the Spirit of God and the Man or Woman of God who pass on to God’s people what God has said. These three speak from the mouth of God.

The wilderness that Moses and the children of God were passing through was a dangerous place. Daytime temperatures in the desert could reach 130 degrees. To not keep God’s commandment and move when He said move meant being left behind to suffer in the desert heat. Night time temperatures in the desert could fall below zero. Not to keep God’s commandment and stay too far away from Him meant being away from His light and heat - to freeze to death or be eaten by wild animals that hunt at night.

The requirements of a son of God are to be led by His spirit. And “to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes…” (Deuteronomy 10:12, 13). Sons know that they don’t “live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). My friend, this is your time, this is your season to walk as a son.
