Amen

Amen
“For all the promises of God in Him [Jesus] are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” 2 Corinthians 1:20
There can be no valid contract without there first being a “meeting of the minds.” Both parties to an agreement must first share the same understanding of the terms of the agreement before a valid contract exist. A promise is a person’s assurance that he or she will or will not do something. In order to come to an agreement there must be an offer and an acceptance. God’s promise is an offer of Divine provision. Those promised blessings are received only through faith and obedience (Deuteronomy 30:19-20).

In his letter to the Corinthians Paul expressed his intention to visit the Corinthian church a second time, but instead his plans had changed. Paul’s enemies in Corinth then began to attack his character as being unreliable and shifty. This put Paul in the position where he had to defend his character. Paul explains, “We can say with confidence and a clear conscience that we have lived with a God-given holiness and sincerity in all our dealings. We have depended on God’s grace, not on our human wisdom. This is how we have conducted ourselves before the world, and especially toward you” (2 Corinthians 1:12 NLT).
Paul, a special anointed messenger of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, knew that if he lived a life of shady character it could be used as an accusation against the Gospel that he preached. So in light of these accusations of misrepresentation, Paul invited his accusers to examine his life and the integrity of the Gospel he preached. Paul’s preaching was not inconsistent or contradictory. Paul’s preaching was oftentimes confirmed with a great move of the Holy Spirit and with miraculous signs and wonders. His preaching reflected the truthfulness and faithfulness of God, because his teaching was based on the Scripture and the teachings of Christ.
This same Paul exhorts in 2 Corinthians 7:1 “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” Child of God, there are a wealth of God’s promises offered to you in Christ. And all of God’s promises are true and trustworthy. May we all be challenged by the grace of God to elevate our thinking, believing, and living in affirmation of the holy and trustworthy God we serve.
