Speak Over Your Year

Speak Over Your Year

“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” Genesis 1:3

The subject of the Bible's first sentence is God. Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” God (Hebrew “Elohim”), the intensely powerful, Triune Deity, speaks a world into existence. It was this same God that spoke in Genesis 1:3, “Let there be light.” Literally, “Light be!” And it was. God commanded Light to enter the earthly realm. Now we are not talking about the naturally lights that were created on the fourth day (the sun, moon, and stars). This was a pre-existing, Eternal Light that was commanded to enter the realm of time and space. This Light dispels all darkness. What darkness are you talking about? The darkness that caused the earth to be formless and empty in Genesis 1:2.

This Light God commanded placed a boundary on darkness, and said darkness you can continue no further! The “darkness” in Genesis 1 was synonymous with chaos and disorder, and emptiness and barrenness. The earth was not fulfilling its creative purpose. God formed and established the earth to be inhabited (Isaiah 45:18). But as we see the earth in Genesis 1:2, it is in chaos and it is empty. Then God commanded Light, and that Light put a boundary on darkness! Light allowed the earth to come into its creative purpose.

Hebrews 11:3 says the worlds were framed by the Word of God. By His Word, God awakens our consciousness to His reality, and puts a boundary on what we were familiar with in the past. The Word brings the revelation (or light) of God's reality to us. We wouldn’t know God’s reality unless He reveals it to us. And we are responsible for bringing that reality to our realm of influence.

First John 4:17 says, “As he is, so are we in this world.” We have been given the authority to transact Kingdom business in the earthly realm. God is a speaking God. But His Words are not merely for communication. His Words bring forth results. Isaiah 55:11 (emphasis added), “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it

Jesus said in John 14:10, “The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” Are there aspects of your world that are without form (in chaos), and void (empty)? Are things in your realm of influence operating outside of their creative purpose? Use your mouth to speak words of faith based on God’s promises, and allow His Word spoken through you to do the work. Speak over your year!
