He’s A Storm Stopper (Part 1)

He’s A Storm Stopper (Part 1)

35 As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” 36 So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). 37 But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.  38 Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”  39 When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.  Mark 4:35-39

1 So they arrived at the other side of the lake, in the region of the Gerasenes. 2 When Jesus climbed out of the boat, a man possessed by an evil  spirit came out from a cemetery to meet him. 3 This man lived among the burial caves and could no longer be restrained, even with a chain. 4 Whenever he was put into chains and shackles—as he often was—he snapped the chains from his wrists and smashed the shackles. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Day and night he wandered among the burial caves and in the hills, howling and cutting himself with sharp stones. Mark 5:1-5

When the words, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake” (verse 35) came out of Jesus’ mouth He had no doubt in his mind that what He said would come to pass. When He spoke, He spoke in faith. He knew it was going to happen. Jesus had full assurance that what He expected to happen would become a reality. He knew that they would reach the other side of the lake.

Jesus was a man who did nothing of himself. He only did what the Father taught him and only spoke those things which he heard of his Father. Now when the Father speaks, it is because He wants to accomplish something. And the thing God the Father wanted to accomplish was on the other side of the lake. “So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11 AMP).

Every word that God the Father speaks has a purpose and the prosperity of that word is that the desired effects are produced. The book of Genesis chapter 1, among others scripture verses, bares witness to Isaiah 55:11 that God’s word accomplishes His purpose. When He wanted light, He said “let there be light” (Genesis 1:3). Whatever God wanted something, He said something “and it was so” (Genesis 1:29).

My friend, you can depend on God’s word. Even when your earth is without form and void. Even when you can’t see your way out, even during the darkest days of your life, speak God’s word and there will be light.
