You’re standing on holy ground.

You’re standing on holy ground.

13And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?  14And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto his servant?  15And the captain of the LORD's host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so. (Joshua 5:13-15)

Joshua was now leading God's people to the promise land.  The Lord began by instructing Joshua in verses 2-3 to make stone knives and circumcise the male population that had not been circumcised.  Joshua obeyed God.  In verses 4-7 an explanation is given for this.  All of the men that had come of Egypt which were of military age had died.  God vowed that they would never lay eyes on the land because of their disobedience.  Their children who would replace them, but had never been circumcised.  Joshua made sure the whole nation was circumcised.  As they were in the camp healing, God spoke to Joshua and said "Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt."  After obeying God, Joshua is near Jericho checking things out, when he looks up and sees a man standing in front of him holding a drawn sword.  Joshua asks him whose side he is on, "ours or our enemies?"  The man answered, "neither;" but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come."  The message he brings Joshua is "Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy."

Every year, beginning, our church is in consecration for the entire month of January.  We are instructed by our Pastor to circumcise our hearts to the Lord.  We turn all of our attention towards God with praying, fasting, and totally focusing on any and all instructions that God would bring to us, especially through our leader.  As I was in my personal prayer time, I heard the Lord say to me, the same words He had spoken to Joshua in the verses of the fore mentioned scripture.  He let me know that He was bringing me to another place.    This place is not a place of levels, but it is a place of dimensions of worship.  The Lord let me know that He was bringing me to this place, because I obeyed the instructions of my leader.  When my leader told us allow God to consume us; to give God permission to move in our lives; to circumcise our hearts and get back in covenant with God; I obeyed.

When you obey God He will bring you to this holy place.  In this holy place, you must take off your shoes.  Your shoes are the things that covered your feet until you got to this place, but now your shoes are a hindrance to your touching that holy place.   We need to be able to walk in this holy place...unrestrained...with nothing covering our ability to feel his presence.  Obedience will always bring you to a place in God.  As you obey His word...as you obey His leading...As you obey His manservant and woman servant he will bring you to a holy place.  Take off your shoes; you're standing on holy ground!
